Gabriela Barrera found a spiritual mentor and example in her aunt, Lorena Mejia.

I am Gabriela Barrera, a Bible student with G.O.D Int'l El Salvador and 18 years old. I grew up in a believing family, raised by wonderful and strong women. I have always had and admired my aunt (Lorena) as an example - she was my teacher when I was a girl and is who introduced me to this ministry. I always wanted to participate in the Youth Bible Conferences even before I was of age because my dream was to grow and be a woman like her, delivered to God, full of His spirit and with a lot of desire to learn more about his Word.

A few years later I participated in my first Bible Conference, where my desire to be a different girl and to study the Word of God grew. I started praying for that future with God and in 2020 it was after my second conference when I was invited to the Internship program. I was nervous but very happy, my answer was always yes, God chose me for this, responded to my prayer and that of my grandmother who is a woman of faith and a great example that I am very blessed to have.

Gabriela highlights the joy that she experiences when she participates in opportunities to serve her neighbors.

I moved to the campus and I currently have a year of studying the Bible - a year that has been full of challenges, tests, learning, blessings and seeing life from a different perspective and making God reflected in my actions. Some of the best experiences I have had during this year have been serving children, learning to enjoy every moment with them and loving their smiles. The joy that is felt every time we serve elderly, widows, neighbors or people who need it or the joy of seeing the fruits of the garden DEMOSFÈ and to know my role, to have something healthy that I can share with others, that God is faithful and has much more prepared for my life and I hope I can continue to give it until the end.

As an intern with G.O.D. Int’l, we strive to provide Gabriela with Biblical education, something she has longed for since she was young. As a part of this year’s Holiday Campaign, you can contribute to the translation of Bible classes into Spanish, and the outfitting of a youth center that will give Gabriela a place outfitted to meet her needs as a student. It’s our goal to raise $250k before December 31st in support of these efforts. To join in, click the link below!
