This year saw the initiation of a partnership between Language In Action, a program under G.O.D. International, and the Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE). Since its inception in 2005, NICE has positively impacted over 40,000 immigrants by striving to provide them with resources and opportunities conducive to successful resettlement and future prosperity.
At the core of NICE’s mission is the empowerment of refugees and immigrants, achieved through strategic partnerships with local organizations. It is with great honor that we aligned our efforts with NICE to broaden the reach of our driver’s education program, extending our support network of immigrants and refugees.
Through this partnership, G.O.D. International provides instructors and curriculum, while NICE facilitates connections with immigrants, including those who have recently arrived in the United States. Our inaugural classes with NICE welcomed students from diverse backgrounds, including Haiti, El Salvador, and Mexico. Subsequently, our classes have expanded to encompass participants from Iran, Ukraine, South Africa, and various regions of Central Africa. It's been wonderful to see our classes grow and keep students engaged, which isn't always easy in adult education.
Leafa Vagatai, Language in Action Manager, has been instrumental in delivering driver's education on a weekly basis. Reflecting on her experience, she remarked, “I have really enjoyed working with Kara from NICE, she is always assisting us with any hurdles and is always working to ensure this program is serving the students as best as possible.”With over 11 years of experience in the field of education, Leafa’s expertise has significantly enriched the educational journey of adult immigrants.
Our Language in Action program recognizes the importance of partnering with local initiatives and leveraging our expertise to augment their efforts, while reciprocally benefiting from their skillsets. Organizations like NICE play a pivotal role in facilitating the transition of immigrants to Nashville, and we take pride in our partnership with them, particularly in the driver's education initiative. Looking ahead, we're committed to teaming up with more organizations like NICE, aiming to give immigrant and refugee populations the best support possible.
