Chris calls his biblical education from the institute “One of the Most Formative Blessings of His Life”
I grew up as a preacher’s kid in a Southern Baptist Church struggling to become contemporary. As a teenager I became involved on the church’s small worship team. We installed a new sound system, added projectors for lyrics (a supplement to the hymnals, of course), and I even played the first drum set to ever grace the sanctuary. These years were formative for me in growing a passion for all things audio-visual.
The biblical education I received at The Institute for G.O.D. Int’l made me deepen the surface level understanding I’d gotten from Sunday school lessons and 3 point sermons. It called me into study and interpretation of the Bible that needed to be lived out in ways I’d never experienced in church.
This education in the Word of God incited faith in me and I consider it one of the most formative blessings in my life thus far.
It’s really the culmination of these two past experiences, my church upbringing and my biblical education, that have led to where I am today in terms of both occupation and ministry.
Job Offer at Center Street Recording turns into Career in Film
While I was finishing up school at the Institute for G.O.D. in 2012, G.O.D. Int’l Founder and CEO, Gregg Garner, offered me a job at the on-campus recording studio, Center Street Recording Studios. In the 7 years I worked there I was given the opportunity to develop my audio/video skills. In 2019 I moved on to video production with Center Street Media. There I’ve been able to use my filmmaking skills in producing, directing, filming, and editing and have worked on all sorts of faith-based productions for clients like The Gospel Music Association, K Love, and CCM Magazine. We’ve produced 4 seasons of the interview series, Dinner Conversations with Mark Lowry and Andrew Greer and are currently in production on a documentary project about Plains, GA and former President Jimmy Carter.
These professional opportunities have been a real blessing and I consider it a privilege to make a living doing something I enjoy so much. However, my favorite things to work on are still things related to the ministry of G.O.D. Int’l.
Chris’ Prayer is to Make the Viewer as Blessed as He Feels as Filmmaker
Whether it’s live broadcasting church services, making highlight videos of our international work, recording worship songs in native languages, or training young people to do these same things, getting to help tell the story of how God is working in our midst is my greatest privilege. I pray people are as blessed by the media we make as we are in getting to make it and that people who hear this Word and these stories would be strengthened in their faith as they see God working in our midst.
The Institute for G.O.D. motto reads “training spiritually mature, competent professionals for global impact.”
When I think about my life, this statement rings true. I’m thankful to have been biblically prepared to live a life in ministry, gain the opportunity to help start a business, and thrive professionally because of my training. I’m confident countless others will be able to testify to the same in years to come.
His education at the Institute for G.O.D. prepared Chris to be a competent professional prepared for global impact! With your support, we can make the Institute available to more students around the world - and in their own language. This holiday season, it is our goal to raise $30k for the translation of Institute classes into Spanish. Will you join us in being #ReadyToShare?
