G.O.D. South East Asia Serves Youth through Literacy, Sports and Skill Development in Summer 2022

2022 Summer Programming in the Philippines Includes Camp Skillz, Camp Drillz, and EsKwela: A Literacy Booster Camp

Camp Skillz participants of the grades 7-9 segment enjoyed a summer cultivating skills, relationships and implementing teamwork. Camp Skillz was facilitated primarily by Mayel Sanico, alongside youth leaders Ruby Ann Larion, Judy Ann Amba, Mae Joy Mendros, Sherelyn Camp, MC Cananes, G.O.D. staff member Rina Miller, and additional young professionals involved at the Tahanan Community Center.

This summer, our missionary staff in the Philippines facilitated the second Camp Skillz in the Philippines at the Tahanan Community Center. In 2021 the camp was held for one week; this year, it was expanded to offer two weeks and multiple age levels. Week 1 hosted children from grades 3-6, and Week 2 hosted children from grades 7-9.

In addition to Camp Skillz, the team also offered EsKwela: a Literacy Booster camp for K-2nd graders focused on the development of literacy skills. The team also facilitated two Camp Drillz sports clinics, one on Basketball and another in partnership with a local Dragonboat team to facilitate a dragon boat training clinic for youth in the area.

It is our goal with these programs to provide youth empowerment both through physical and educational activities, in order to develop children’s bodies, minds and relationships. But that’s not all! In following the call of Abraham to be a blessing to the nations, we are doing our best to develop the health of our communities by providing affordable opportunities for youth that assist in their mental, physical, and social development.

2021 Holiday Campaign Makes Progress on Youth Programming Causes

These projects were sponsored in part by funds from the 2021 Holiday Campaign. Participants completed programs with a greater understanding of the activities they were involved in, and stronger relationships as a result of cultivating teamwork. Youth have already developed a love and commitment to this programming - asking on the first day if the camp would continue again the following year. We are so thankful to our generous supporters that keep this programming available to disadvantaged youth.

In our endeavor to be a light to the nations and fulfill the great commission, G.O.D. Int'l implements the saying "What we do here is what we do there.” These programs reflect this principle, as they were derived from youth empowerment programs that began in Nashville and continue in multiple regions of the world! Camp Skillz, Camp Drillz, and sports clinics in soccer, basketball, and more are offered regularly in Nashville, East Africa, The Philippines, and Latin America by G.O.D. Int’l. Praise God for His faithfulness and for the generosity of our supporters, that make this kind of programming possible.
