Igniting Creativity and Confidence in Our 11th Year of After-School Programming

Global Outreach Developments CASE staff is full of enthusiasm for a fantastic year of afterschool programming!
Our CASE staff is full of enthusiasm for a fantastic year of afterschool programming!

We are thrilled to announce the return of our after-school programming this fall for its 11th year! Over the years, we have seen incredible growth and transformation in the lives of the young people we serve, and this year promises to be even more exciting with some fantastic new additions.

One of the most significant developments is the introduction of a brand new programming site, ArtLab. This site is designed with a creatives-focused approach, offering a unique space where students can explore their passions in music, art, podcasting, culinary arts, digital design, and so much more. ArtLab will be a hub of creativity and expression, giving our students the tools and support they need to develop their talents and explore new creative horizons.

In addition to ArtLab, we are delighted to welcome seven brand new staff members to our team this year. Each one of them brings so much energy and joy to serve our young people. Our staff training sessions kicked off this past week, and the atmosphere has been one of laughter, prayer, worship, and deep learning. We've been privileged to have past CASE staff and teaching professionals share their insights on how to best support middle schoolers. These sessions have covered everything from understanding the psychology of middle school students to creating flexible, loving, and caring discipline strategies.

Our staff are united by a shared belief that God's word guides us in creating safe and hospitable environments for these young people. As Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all...whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” (Mark 9:35-37). This scripture reminds us that our mission is to serve these young people with humility and love, welcoming them as Jesus welcomes them.

After a time of worship during training, one of our brand new staff members was “overwhelmed with joy listening to his colleagues worship the Lord in song.” He testified to how much it meant to him to be surrounded by people who prioritize their faith and Biblical education, as they prepare to invest into youth together. Our team is already connected through a shared conviction and heart to show these middle schoolers how valued, seen, and loved they are, and how much their voices matter.

Our theme for this year is "Unmuted: Speak UP!" We hope to inspire our students to use their voices to speak up for what matters to them, address the needs they see in their communities, and develop the confidence to know that their voices are important and needed. Equally, we want our staff to feel empowered, knowing that their lives can be used by the Lord as an extension of His love. By speaking truth to these young people about their worth and belonging, we believe we can create a space where everyone feels confident to be themselves.

As we embark on this new year, I am filled with anticipation and excitement for all that God has in store for our staff and the youth that we serve in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
