Manohar Paul works as a Cultural Liaison for G.O.D. India. He manages our daily ministerial operations in India, including the recently founded weekly Bible study fellowship. This ministry is catered towards the huge demographic of single ‘working class’ Indians, who migrate to the Delhi area in search of employment.
Holding a gathering on Friday nights allows for people to come share a meal after work, and have meaningful fellowship at the end of their week, without conflicting with their regular Sunday service.
Here in India last month we began to host “Reflections,” a weekly fellowship time at our offices outside of Delhi. These times include genuine worship, a Bible topic and discussion, and fellowship together with friends over a meal. This ministry effort came after prayerful conversations with team leadership and talking with some local believers. Our desire is to have people coming together from different backgrounds and various churches to have a meaningful conversations with other people of God.
Many of our attendees are not yet married, ages range from late 20’s to mid 30’s. Attendees are of the working class and are looking for a biblical surrounding and godly friends.
One Friday night recently we gathered at the home of one of our consistent attendees who had been bound to her bed with back pain. We were able to bring her favorite dish, lay hands and pray with her, and play a game together afterwards! We all felt very encouraged by the time together.
Attendees have really enjoyed the Bible-based discussions; it allows them to talk and share their opinion and also ask questions. Many conversations have to do with how we can take biblical principles and apply them in practical ways.
Savitri, one of our regular attendees says, “This place makes me feel comfortable and I can connect with people so easily.”
Over the past several weeks people have really been enjoying the fellowship over special meals, worship together, Bible talks and times of discussion to let everyone speak and to hear each other’s heart. People look forward to “Friday Nights” now, and we are so grateful for everyone who put in efforts to make this possible.
