June Update from Francis Lubega in Uganda

I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. I wanted to take a moment and make some updates on what is happening here in Uganda, East Africa, in the areas I am more personally responsible.

Firstly, I would like to thank our Lord Jesus Christ who has kept his promise up to this day, not leaving us as orphans but he has proved himself as a faithful Lord and father even during hard situations. As it is written, “No evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone” (Ps 91:10-12).

Farmers harvest produce from Faithwells and St. John’s gardens, enough to eat, sell, and distribute to those most in need of it. Look how green and rich it is!

During this COVID-19 lockdown we have seen the Lord sending angels to lift us up and support us, from G.O.D. Int’l, and in all ways we have not felt any bad effect or weight of COVID-19 so far. We are praising God for that.

In the process, the Lord has also used us to support families of our relatives and friends and the most vulnerable people in the community with food items from our gardens. Although the government has not been able to reach out to these people, the Lord has been able through our activity.

Last November, Josh Kurtz and Francis Lubega trained Stephen (left), Kiwanda (middle) and Viola (right), along with two others how to repair boreholes. The repair team, managed by Francis, has already become indispensable for well repair and maintenance in the community.

The water sources (boreholes) have frequently been breaking down unfortunately, as there has been constant and relentless water pumping due to high water demands for each household as all people are at home. Also due to limited work and incomes, it has been difficult for the community to raise funds to fix their boreholes. As a last resort, some are going and get water from valley ponds, increasing disease risks.

However, through NuWaterWorks program, we have been able to fix five more boreholes. An offer was given to our closest neighborhood, and we fixed it free of charge. We have a very happy neighborhood now due to how the Lord has enabled us to serve them.

Our garden has also been able to continue producing food. Apart from making food available to the families in our community of faith, we have continued to make it available to the people in the neighborhood through the available outlets, and our sales are continuing to grow.

The foundation of the Lubegas’ home has begun! We are so thankful for this family and are thrilled for them to have a place of their own. Praise be to God!

The building project of the Lubegas’ house construction is underway. (The Lubega family has been patiently living in transitional housing on our headquarters for 7 years while Francis has been helping build homes for the other families there.) My family is very grateful for the opportunity that we are now able to construct our own and spacious home. The excitement is very high for everyone in the home and they cannot wait to occupy it. Flowers are being planted in the nursery bed and watered to ensure quick germination, and the compound is being planted even though the house is not yet finished. Thank you so much for your generosity and may the Lord bless you abundantly in Jesus’ name.
