Recap of Camp Drillz: A Week of Soccer Fun and Growth

This summer, young soccer enthusiasts gathered for a Soccer Intensive week at Camp Drillz, one of the top youth soccer camps in Nashville. This five-day camp was packed with fun, learning, and a lot of soccer action, making it an unforgettable experience for all involved.

The excitement was high as we kicked off the week with a bang on Monday. The Nashville Soccer Club (NSC) hosted a special pop-up event that became the highlight of the day. The kids' eyes widened with awe when Jalil Anibaba, a professional NSC player, made a surprise appearance. The opportunity to meet and interact with a professional player set the tone for an exhilarating week ahead.

The kids were in great hands for the remainder of the week with Jason Roufs,

director of coaching for Nashville Futbol Club and a former semi-professional soccer player. Jason's passion for the game was evident as he meticulously guided the campers through key soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and controlling the ball. His engaging teaching style and expert tips made the drills not only challenging but incredibly fun. The campers eagerly soaked up his knowledge, ready to showcase their growing talents in real game scenarios.

Every day, the players got over 1,000 touches on the ball. The repetitive drills honed their lower body coordination, plyometrics, and power moves. These drills were designed to help them move better on and off the ball and keep possession even in tight spots. The joy of mastering a new skill was evident on their faces, and the camaraderie built during these sessions was heartwarming.

But it wasn’t just about soccer skills. The camp also emphasized strength and conditioning workouts. These sessions were as fun as they were challenging, pushing the kids to build strength, endurance, and agility. The kids found themselves rising to the challenge, cheering each other on as they pushed their limits and discovered newfound resilience.

A critical aspect of the camp was educating the kids about proper hydration and nutrition. They learned that electrolyte drinks are best used after workouts, hydration should start 24 hours before workouts, and water intake during workouts is to cool the body, not to weigh it down. These tips were crucial for helping the kids understand how to take care of their bodies and stay healthy.

By the end of the week, the campers had not only improved their soccer skills but also learned valuable lessons about fitness and nutrition. Camp Drillz was a fantastic experience for everyone involved, filled with fun, learning, and growth. We’re so proud of all the campers and can’t wait to see how they continue to develop their skills.
