We are excited to welcome two dedicated high school seniors from the Academy for GOD into our community services program. These students, Blessing Davis and River Edmondson, are using their internships to pursue their passions and make an impact within our organization and our local community.
Blessing has long felt called to serve immigrants and refugees, and her internship with our Language In Action program aligns perfectly with her goals. She is working directly with this demographic, assisting in the compilation of resources for teachers in our English Language Learning classes and helping mothers attend classes by watching their children. Additionally, Blessing is gaining valuable experience by organizing information, attending meetings with our Community Services Director, and deepening her understanding of what it means to serve these communities. Her compassion for the immigrant and refugee population shows in every task she takes on, and she has been a wonderful addition to our team.
Meanwhile, River Edmondson is focusing on youth engagement, spending most of his time with our CASE After School Program. This past summer, River discovered a passion for working with youth and children at Global Outreach Development’s summer camp, Camp Skillz. This internship will allow him to further develop this interest by preparing activities for youth and organizing our supplies inventory to better serve the program. He is also working on initiatives to foster unity and friendship among the boys in the program, taking a hands-on role in creating a consistent time for all of the boys to meet and spend intentional time together during programming.
Both Blessing and River have demonstrated wonderful initiative and commitment, and we are excited to see how they will grow through this experience. As they empower immigrants, refugees, and at-risk youth in the greater Nashville area, they too are being empowered and equipped with skills and insights that will prepare them for future service. We are honored to be part of their journey.
