Weekly Update - Philippines

This past week was a full one for our team on the ground in Palo, Leyte.

Lighthouse, a local children's ministry, donated clothing that our team was then able to distribute to friends in need in the nearby area. First, they stopped by the local women's jail where they were able to offer this much needed gift to the women who have little to no access to these resources while they are detained.

In addition, Clark Miller was able to visit with and offer some clothing to a group of fishermen who he has been developing a friendship with. The men have difficult jobs, with unpredictable success, and they were very thankful for this resource that will assist in them meeting needs for their families.

Clark continues to volunteer at the local elementary, facilitating a tutoring program that began last year for students who need additional assistance for a variety of reasons. At a school that is already in need of more personnel, this extra service is receiving increasing appreciation among staff and parents.

The team also hosted a game night with the local youth that attend the weekly Bible Studies at Tahanan, our community center. Filipino youth love to laugh and have a good time. Despite challenging circumstances and unpredictable futures, they lean on friendship for a source of strength and joy.
