Camp Skillz, a summer day camp hosted by GOD International, has been an affordable and enriching summer opportunity for children in the Nashville area since 2013. And we think summer 2024 will be our best yet! Camp Skillz is designed for rising first through six grade students, offering a diverse range of activities aimed at building relationships, character, creativity, athletic prowess, and practical skills. At Camp Skillz, we believe that summer is a time for growth, learning, and fun, and our program is designed to provide all of this and more.
Each of the four weeks of Camp Skillz has a unique theme, ensuring that every camper has the opportunity to explore different aspects of personal and social development. Here's a sneak peek at what each week has to offer:
Week 1: Nashville Neighbors United
In the first week, our focus is on cultivating the character of a good neighbor. This theme is defined by the values of responsibility, kindness, and ethics. We teach campers that being a good neighbor means seeing a need and taking responsibility to meet it. Through engaging activities and discussions, campers will learn how to practice kindness in their everyday interactions and make ethical choices that positively impact their community.
Week 2: Skillz Showdown
The second week is all about developing competence and confidence. We emphasize the importance of becoming “Competent Persons,” encouraging students to achieve a level of capacity that allows them to contribute meaningfully to society. Campers will participate in various challenges and skill-building activities that boost their abilities and self-assurance. By the end of the week, they’ll have a tangible sense of accomplishment and a deeper understanding of their own potential.
Week 3: Global Odyssey
Our third week theme, “Globally Conscious,” introduces campers to the wonders of cultural diversity. We explore different cultures, races, customs, languages, and perspectives, helping students understand that they are part of a diversely beautiful world designed by God. Through interactive sessions and immersive experiences, campers will learn to appreciate the richness of global cultures and develop an inherent mode of interaction based on empathy and respect.
Week 4: Kidz World
In the final week, we focus on being “Historically Relevant.” This theme addresses the importance of understanding our time and generation, along with the related social issues. Campers will engage in discussions and activities that help them connect historical events and trends with current issues, fostering a sense of awareness and responsibility as young citizens. By understanding the past and present, students will be better equipped to shape the future.
In addition to these themes, each week of Camp Skillz includes a fun field trip, a daily snack shack to keep campers energized, and a variety of activities designed to keep everyone cool and entertained in the summer heat. From sports and games to arts and crafts, there’s something for everyone at Camp Skillz.
