Transformational Experiences
Our SLAM Programs
Nashville is home to Students Living a Mission. During a SLAM week, we give your students intentional opportunities to obey God's command to love their neighbor. We facilitate your team to serve those most in need by engaging those that may otherwise be ignored (Luke 15). In the Nashville context, that means caring for the kids, elderly, and newcomers to this growing city. The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45 Through this serving experience, students gain awareness of the needs that exist for impoverished people in the United States. Students invest their time and energy for the benefit of those who cannot do for themselves. In the process, they often realize how much they have to give! Participants will get a taste of what it means to live a mission, wherever they are. The mission is to follow Jesus, and model our lives after his. Our desire is that this week of serving will assist you in developing students into lifelong imitators of Jesus regardless of their age or context. Contact Us below so we can discuss a plan to grow your students.

SLAM International
Traveling to Uganda is almost guaranteed to change you. You will meet some of the most hospitable people in the world, be confronted by overwhelming poverty, and be challenged to meet needs using the gifts and skills God has given you.
You will serve local widows--showing them worth through your presence and willingness to hear their stories. Then you might build them a rocket stove, to help save their health, and their bills. You will assist teachers in their classrooms, and help provide the things kids need for a successful school day--like food and water. You might help in the garden, or in the construction of a home, or by marketing for our store, The Trade.
You will worship and study the Bible with a new family, and find encouragement in one another's testimonies. You'll work side-by-side to alleviate burdens and find the Lord giving you strength.
Students Living a Mission works with the poor on the outskirts of San Salvador through construction projects, kid’s camps, sports clinics, and home visits. Students will not only come to know the sights and sounds of rural El Salvador, but they will work alongside builders and farmers, be a friendly mentor that so many children need, and a warm smile for those who feel isolated.
Concentrating our work in a local community has enabled us to get to know our neighbors, work within the school system, host agricultural and health seminars, develop a place for youth to gather, and prioritize a variety of other needs that we can work alongside residents of the area to meet.
Would you like to experience one of the world’s most unique cultures, participate in meaningful service and be challenged to learn God in new ways? If you answered yes, come and join us in India!
Our SLAM trips are designed to introduce you to cross-cultural ministry, framed by the Scriptures, prayer, and worship. You will join us in working with impoverished youth at local schools, learn about the public health needs of one of the most densely populated areas of the world, and participate in various forms of social service! You'll visit Sikh and Hindu temples, and then meet and worship with Indian believers who have come to know Jesus as Lord.
We don’t just want to show you around, we want you to join us in our work, bring your experience, skills, and gifts to make a difference while you’re there. Past participants have improved school facilities, taught high school students, led music and games with children, visited with widows, documented photography and videography projects, and much more! We will do our best to incorporate your skill set in our continual effort to demonstrate the Lord’s love as we serve together.
In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in 2013, many Filipinos still live in transitional housing, suffer from the trauma of disaster or losing a loved one, and are forced to cope with a new way of being in the midst of great destruction. SLAM participants have the opportunity to bring the light of God into these environments through relief projects, children’s programs, and medical missions. We are excited to work with you to meet these very real needs!
